Malu 'Aina is the Hawaiian name given to the Center for Non-Violent Education and Action located ten miles south of the city of Hilo on the island of Hawaii. We are a spiritually-based rural community dedicated to peace and a world built on a foundation of justice.
The seed to establish Malu 'Aina was a donation of 22 acres of land in 1980. A wide variety of fruits and vegetables are grown to share freely with people in need and to support the work of justice and peace.
We work cooperatively learning useful skills from one another, seeking through aloha 'aina (love for the land) a deeper understanding of non-violence as a way of life.
Many local and international peacemakers visit Malu 'Aina for reflection, discussion, and action-planning on problems facing Hawaii and the world.
Malu 'Aina's founder Jim Albertini has made a home of this land, and has dedicated himself for the last eighteen years to managing and caring for it. He is an advocate of simple living and anti-militarism is an active supporter of the movement for a nuclear-free and independent Pacific region.
Start small. Plant even one kalu huli in your yard
or pot on a lanai. Nurture the kalo to maturity. Eat it and
enjoy. Share kalo keiki/huli for family, friends and
neighbors to plant. This is an important step toward
self-reliance, self-sufficiency, community and sovereignty.

Please excuse the inconvenience and insult. Malu 'Aina has nothing to do with them. Sincerely.
