Powers of Attorney

These documents allow someone to manage your affairs if you are physically and/or mentally enable to do so. Their force and effect terminates on death.

A General Power of Attorney is signed only by you to appoint someone. It is kept on file (by us usually) unless and until it is needed (eg. severe stroke). Your spouse can be appointed, but in that event, an alternate person should be appointed as well.

A Banking Power of Attorney requires you and your attorney to attend your bank together to complete the forms. They will be used only if you cannot handle your banking in the future. Their force ends on death.
