I Francis Henry Froes of Rosehill near Liverpool in the Couny of Lancaster Esquire do solemnly and sincerely declare that I am a subject of His Majesty the Emperor of Brazil having been born in Bahia in the Brazilian Empire. That I am now thirty two years of age.That I was brought over to England when an infant in or about the year of one thousand eight hundred and sixteen and that I never since returned to Brazil , but have during all that time resided in England with the exception of occasional visits to the continent of Europe. That my mother is an Englishwoman by birth and has for many years resided in England. That my Father died many years ago. That I married a few years since an English Lady by whom I have two children. That my wife has recently had very large land and other property left to her and that I have a settled place of residence at Rose Hill aforesaid belonging to my Wife. That I was for some years a Wine Merchant in Liverpool, but that in the month of December last I retired from business. That I intend henceforth to reside permanently in England , but not to carry on any business. That in consequence of my mother being an Englishwoman and of my long residence in England and of marriage , I am greatly attached to this country and I am on the above ground desirous to acquire the rights of a British Subject, and I make this solemn declaration concientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of an act made and passed in the sixth year of the reign of His late Majesty King William the Fourth intituled 'an Act' to repeal an Act of the present Parliament intituled an Act for the more effectual abolition of Oaths and affirmaton taken and made in various departments of the State and to substitute Declarations in lieu thereof and for the more entire suppression of voluntary and extiajudical Oaths and affidavits and to make other provisions for the abolition of unecessary oaths.
