Letter dated 9th February,1944. from Solicitors to Mrs H.Froes (Widow of H.F.Froes) 53 Carrington Rd Chorley Lancs
Dear Madam,
Froes Will Trust Re Caroline Ann Mary Froes deceased
Mr Francis Henry Froes late of Kingswood, Coventry, died on the 3rd October 1896 leaving the following children him surviving :-
1. Francis Froes, who died 17th September 1927
2. Ida Mary Froes , who died 27th August 1924
3. Thomas Rawson Froes, who died 10th October 1909
4. Theodore Froes, who died 30th June 1917
5. Caroline Ann Mary Froes, who died 12th Oct 1943
6. Charles William Joseph Froes, who died 3rd Feb 1930
7. Wilfred Ildefonsus Froes, who died 9th Oct 1937
8. Maud Mary Froes, who died 23rd Dec 1943
We have since ascertained that Mr James Francis Gerard Froes, The only Son and sole Executor of the Will of Mr Francis Froes, died in Rome in 1942.
We also understand that your late husband, Mr Herbert Francis Froes, who was the sole Executor of the Will of his Father, Mr Thomas Rawson Froes, has since died.
The position with which we are at present concerned is that the late Miss Caroline Ann Mary Froes, a member of the Redemptoristine Community, died intestate and her next of kin are entitled to a share of her settled legacy fund of 800 pounds, settled upon her by her late father Mr Francis Henry Froes, over which she did not exercise her power of appointment.
The said Settled Legacy Fund, in the events which have happened reverts to the late Mr Francis Henry Froes' Residuary Estate , and as such the estates of the deceased children, as set out above, are entitled to their respective shares. In such circumstances the estate of the late Miss C.A.M.Froes is entitled to a one eighth share and the estate of your late husband's father , Mr Thomas Rawson Froes, is entitled to an eighth share. Under the Will of the late Mr Thomas Rawson Froes , of which we have a copy , his children , Mary C Froes, Herbert F froes and C.Gerard J Froes are entitled to such one eighth share in equal parts , i.e presuming your late Husband's Mother , Mrs Helen Agatha Froes, is not still alive.
Will you therefore please inform us if your late husbands's Brothers and Sisters are still alive, and if not, who acted in the matter of their estates and also who acted in your late Husband's estate.
We are in touch with the Solicitor acting for the Executors of the Will of the late Miss Maud Mary Froes, who was the last surviving member of the Family, and the same Solicitor is also acting for the Widow of Mr Wilfred Ildefonsus Froes.
We are aware that the late Charles William Joseph Froes was a priest of the Roman Catholic Church and this only leaves us to ascertain if the late Theodore Froes died a bachelor or leaving a Widow and Children.
We will also have to ascertain if the late Miss Ida Mary Froes left a Will and if so who acted in her estate. We shall be glad to know if you can help us in this respect.
Yours faithfully…………………….
