Why should I use ICS instead of a tweaking program like Xqxsetup?
ICS in not meant to replace a great tweaker like Xqxsetup but to compliment it. ICS is meant for the self tweaker that likes to tweak his or her P.C. manually. With ICS you know exactly what system changes are performed. With ICS you have total control of your registry. Beware of some third party tweakers that may change many settings in your registry that your P.C. may not agree with and may not be able to go back to default settings.
How safe is ICS?
If you write down your default registry settings before applying any ICS changes your P.C. should never be in any danger, just make sure you do not make any typing errors putting in your new data values. If your P.C. does not agree with the new values then simply put the default values back. in.
I can't get the quick spell feature to work.
Some earlier versions of ICS had a flaw in the speller.vbs file. Simply delete your old ICS folder and download the newest ICS version here. Your P.C. must also have Word97 or higher and updated visual basic system files.
What version of WINDOWS can I use ICS with?
ICS is safe to use with Win95A Win95B Win95C and all Win98 versions but some tweaks & hacks may not work well with Win95A and some tweaks are included with Win98. Many tweaks & hacks may be used with Windows NT. Win 3.11 and below is not compatible with ICS and Windows 2000 has not been tested.
What is the difference between a hack and a tweak?
In ICS a hack is when you add or modify a registry setting and a tweak is when you add or modify a system setting.
What is the difference between ICS and other help files?
ICS gets more technical into performing registry hacks and system tweaks for the user that is ahead of the first time novice, most other help files are filled with tricks that the ICS user is already aware of.
Why do I have to do so much scrolling to read ics?
The ICS file is optimised to run under 1024 by 768 resolution and you do not have to scroll at all in that resolution, however if you prefer to run a lower resolution then drag a corner of ics to make it big enough that you wont have to scroll.
I tweaked my TCP IP settings according to ICS specs but my modem is reporting the same slow speed as before.
The maxmtu and maxmss settings will not speed up the actual bps rate on any modem. Without getting to technical what the registry setting is meant to do is to slow the Maximum Transmission Unit coming into your Modem.(your bps rate should not change at all.) It is proven that the windows default setting of 1500 is to high for PPP (that is what we all use with regular modems) so the mtu's will get fragmented These fragments must then be re-assembled at the receiving computer. Avoiding fragmentation has a major effect on file download speed. Keeping MSS small enough to do so, without making it so small that most of the bytes in a datagram are header overhead, is a major factor in tuning your winsock for maximum speed. This is why the settings that I and many others suggest. Also adjusting the maximum value to 115200 in the modem setup under Device and also in the ISP setup will speed up your transfer rate between your P.C. and your modem. Again your bps rate should not change but you should notice a performance increase.

Why is this version of ICS.CHM number 106C, isn't it the first ICS.CHM version?
Yes it is but when I made ICS.CHM, ICS.HLP was already in version 106B so i don't want people to think that ICS.HLP is newer. ICS.HLP will have a B in the version number and ICS.CHM will have a C in the version number.
I know a cool Tweak or Hack, may I submit it to ICS?
