·  Led multi-company definition of bus bridge ASIC for high reliability telecom switchgear systems, a 10 man-year engineering effort.

·  Led IEEE standards activity, serving as inaugural chair of the Bus Architecture Standards Committee (1991 - 1994), and Vice-Chair of the 1394 Trade Association.

 

US Navy         1970 - 1990

·  Led joint Industry / Navy team (100+ engineers) that evaluated and selected bus standards for defense systems.  Represented Department of Defense in IEEE standards arena.

·  Managed 1.25-micron silicon Technology Insertion efforts, with a $14M yearly budget.  Technical director for 0.5-micron silicon development; managed Navy contracts with TRW, Motorola, Honeywell, and IBM.

·  Managed aircraft carrier overhaul, an 8,000 men per day, two and one-half year, $500M project.  Directed efforts of 35 general foremen, representing a variety of trades.  Managed critical path projects, resulting in returning carrier to fleet ahead of schedule and under budget, overcoming significant growth in scope of effort.

·  Twenty year career also included tours as an electronic technician - radar systems, submarine nuclear power plant reactor operator, and patrol plane navigator / communicator.  Selected from fleet to receive undergraduate and graduate education.
