Engineering Leadership and Management

 

·        Managed a staff of 64 engineering managers and technical staff in a multi-national testing environment including the design, development, product support, and cost reduction functions for all company network products.  Resulted in highly competent technical staff that consistently delivered fully functional product.

·        Managed a staff of 20 engineers in the testing of Ingress, Egress, and Host Cards.  Resulted in all products meeting functional specifications.

·        Led a staff of 44 storage test engineers in the functional testing of all RAID, SCSI, and Fiber Optic products.  Yielded highly reliable quality products with on time delivery.

·        Managed the Disk Drive Hardware functional and compatibility test functions within Engineering and Manufacturing comprising a staff of 26 engineers.  Resulted in combined, organized, and common goal oriented teams with documented and structured test methodologies and quality metrics.

 
Engineering Operations

 

·        Merged hardware and software New Product Introduction processes resulting in a team approach for functional and software testing.

·        Developed documentation and process for all testing at multiple site locations resulting in clearly defined metrics and data for test analysis.

·        Developed test management process based on Microsoft Access with resulting capability to analyze data and generate automated reports.

·        Program managed multiple OEM (original Equipment Manufacturer) Drive tests. Resulted in higher sales volumes.

·        Provided consulting services including laptop testing, ROI (Return on Investment) process for cost reduction and network design and implementation for a variety of companies that included Cabletron Systems, NEC Corporation and Weber Real Estate Company.  Resulted in managed process oriented programs that helped reduce costs by up to 50% and improved overall delivery of products.

·        Owned and Managed $ 20m lab resulting in documented Acquisition, management, and disposal of all Lab Equipment.

·        Owned and Managed individual Program or Group budgets to $ 20m.  The end result was cost controls, equipment management, and resource planning.

 
Program Management

 

·        Managed multiple project leaders and teams in a multi-national setting insuring program integration and coordination both internally and externally.

·        This delivered highly coordinated team projects with common goals without regard to location with many single companies.

·        Development, Support, Cost Reduction, and Product Engineering processes that delivered supported cost reduced (up to 50%) products in defined processes.

·        Utilizing Kepner Tregoe techniques, developed root cause for issues resulting in quick solutions to met quality, cost, and time requirements.  Was the primary source for conflict resolution and program technical issues.

·        Provided internal team management, multi-national team management, as well as vendor and customer team management resulting in coordinated facets of programs for time, cost, and quality deliveries.

·        Developed and managed Performance, Quality, Cost, and Program schedules resulting in delivery of on time, within cost and performance guidelines, and to defined quality standards and metrics using Clear DDTS and Crystal Reports. 

·        Utilized Statement of Work and MS Project tools to communicate and gain approval for all programs resulting in common support and management tools for each program.

·        Built matrix/alliance with all levels of management resulting in buy-in, support, and understanding of common goals, metrics, and reporting methods.

·        Managed delivery of program status, issues, and metrics in a periodic public forum (staff or program meetings) designed to foster communication, support, and program ownership.  Resulted in teams feeling empowered in a public forum to deliver to schedule, cost, and other goals.

 

Product Test and Quality Assurance

 

·        Managed several code streams from conception to delivery including schedules, resources, and equipment yielding on time delivery for multiple O/S systems.

·        Implemented test plans and failure analysis processes across multiple sites resulting in consistent reproducible data and the analysis that helped resolve bugs.

·        Developed test cases and scripts for Bios, Drivers, and GUI application software that resulted in automated test processes, consistent tools, methodology, and data.

·        Coordinated multi-site testing resulting in timely, accurate and formatted data for quick analysis.

·        Developed gage capable benchmark process utilizing Excel resulting in simplified data analysis of drive performance (key to understanding if drive Performance).

·        Provided trouble shooting guidelines, participated in trouble-shooting problem solving, and general issue resolution of complex systems resulting in solutions that met the required schedules and cost goals.
