Alcatel is a multi-billion dollar global company providing telecommunications equipment to telephone, cellular and Internet service providers.  Alcatel acquired DSC in 1999. 

 

Director of Marketing - Commercial Strategy, Optics Division (2002-2003)

 

Responsible for major business opportunities, strategies and contract negotiations for all Optics Division products.

 

-         Developed and implemented a successful marketing strategy against newer technology.  Net Result: $100M in revenue over 18 months.

-         Negotiated major contract with Sprint.  Net Result: $30M over 2 years to the bottom line and a liability reduction of $25M.

 

Sr. Director of Marketing/Sales - Optics Division  (1998-2002)

 

Responsible for account marketing of optics products to the Regional Bell Operating Companies.  Responsibilities included marketing strategy, RFP responses, customer network designs, and forecast management coordinated with sales.   Increased revenues from $50M to $300M over 3 years.

 

-         Negotiated major contract with SBC.  Net Result: $200M in revenue estimated over 3 years.

-         Negotiated price changes with Level 3.  Net Result:  increased margins 15%.

 

Director of Product Management Transmission Group DSC (1995-1998)

 

Responsible for product management of cross-connect products, joint partnerships and network solutions.  Managed a large system development requiring both hardware and software development of 150 engineers using MS project.

 

-         Won major contract with Verizon.  Net Result: $400M over 5 years.

-         Managed partnerships with Nortel, NEC and a Korean Consortium.  Net Result: $150M over 2 years.

 

Systems Engineering Manager - Transmission Group, DSC (1992-1995)

 

Responsible for system requirements, documentation and training development for a Broadband switching system.

 

-         Contributed to the redesign of the switching architecture to improve the switching times.  Net Result:  increased sales by 100%.

 

Development Manager  - Network Management (1983-1992)

 

            Responsible for development of  Network Management systems.

 

-         Won first contract for Network Management System at NYNEX (Verizon).  Net Result: provided the initial revenue to fund the rest of the development

-         Directed development of a Narrowband Network Management System still in operation at over 30 customer sites.  Net Result: increased sales by 35%.

-         Developed the first calling card system for Sprint and MCI.  Net Result:  secured a long lasting relationship with both companies valued in the billions.
