Ferdinand III: Also called saint Ferdinand. In spanish, he is known as San Fernand. He was the king of Castile(1217 to 1252), leon(1230 to 1252) and conqueror of Muslim cities of Cordoba(1236), Jaen(1236) and Seville(1248). He was the son of Alfonso VIII of Castile. He married Beatrice of Swabia, daughter of Holy Roman emperor. His second wife was Joan of Ponthieu, whom he married in 1237. He later setteled in Seville, where he is buried.
