Mindy's Cure Experiences
On this page I will have sort of a diary following my love for the Cure over the years.
I first fell in love with the Cure in the end of 1985. I had heard an interview on Mtv talking about them and it went through a bunch of their videos and just hearing their music got me instantly hooked! I was previously into Duran Duran for a couple of years, but as soon as I discovered The Cure, that was it for me! I started collecting everything I could get my hands on. Each week I would go up to the mall and buy two or three of their albums until I had them all. Then came the collecting factor. When I relized that each single had their own record, different sleeve, then different country, well I am sure you get the point. All of the money I had went to collecting anything I could get my hands on pertaining to The Cure. The first photo I can remember of myself when I first started liking the Cure was when I was in the 7th grade holding up a Melody Marker that had the Cure on the Cover.

I may have changed my looks and many other aspects in my life, but one thing hasstayed constant in my life and that is my love for the Cure. I first saw the Cure back in 1987 during their Kissing Tour. I was only 16 or so at the time so after I begged my mom, she knew how much I loved them, she decided to take me and my sister up to Maryland to visit visit my cousin's and aunt and let me go to the concert which was at the Patriot Centre close by. I thought I was going to die that night, I was so happy and excited to see my favorite band in person. Of course our seats were in the very back as high up as you could go, but I knew that the Cure was in the same building and that is all that mattered. I had an absolutly wonderful time. That was only the beginning! I became heavily involved in a couple of Cure fanzines out at the time: Other Voices and Luv Catz , both of which are no longer around. I did meet some of my closest friends through them though: Autumn, Erika, Brian and many more. My friend Erika and I both became quick friends and decided that next time that the Cure would go on we would go to as many Cure shows together as we could. I think we went to around 10 or 15 on the Prayer Tour all along the east coast.

Erika and I met back up for the beginning of the Prayer Tour, we were able to meet the Cure several different times and also got to meet Shelleyan Orphan and had the distinct priviledge of washing the Cure's tour bus for a tour of it when we were done. See Photos...

We had so many exciting experiences during the Prayer Tour and got to meet so many people, it was definatly one of the best times of my life that I will never forget. After the Prayer Tour was over I was of course sad and wanted to start building on our next Cure adventure. So my friend Erika and I decided that we would try and plan a trip to England hopefully bump into the Cure there. Well after many many months of saving our money we finally decided on going in the winter of 1991. Stay tuned...
I finally got to meet Simon! 1989
After the Prayer Tour I graduated high school in June of 1990 and I decided to go and visit my dear friend, Autumn, whom I had met through Other Voices. So I drove to California to stay with her for a while. Other than Erika she was the only other person I had really connected to on a personal and "Cure" level, who understood who I was and someone I could relate to. I stayed out there for about 4 or 5 months until my money ran out, then I moved back home to North Carolina, got a waitressing job and started saving my money for my trip to England with Erika. Finally the time came when we were to leave. I was so excited! Now mind you we were going in the hopes of seeing the Cure (we were very determined). We did the usual stops that any die hard Cure fan would make, such as the Rocket, the Gazebo in Crawley they played at, their child hood schools, the Fiction office and there we really lucked out by getting a personal tour of their office (where there were many Cure artifacts laying around ( I will put some photos up..) and also there someone told us that Robert was going to be appearing on a local tv show and where and when, so you guessed it, we were there and got to meet Robert.
