This is an illustration of a wool mid length jacket, in various colours, and a wool skirt in plain matching colour. It can be machine or hand made. I enjoy drawing, sometimes I just copy models from fashion magazine to get the flexibility of the human figure.
As you should know, the fashion illustrator exaggerate the length of legs and the figure has no human proportions! This is thought at fashion schools, in this way the garment you are drawing is more appealing to watch.
Now the fashion industry is trying to make the illustrations reality, by introducing very skinny models with long legs and very tall! This of course is almost impossible, and all the tall beautiful models are starving themselves, even if they say is not true!
When I went to fashion school, we had two kind of design illustrations; one for commercial and one for artistic purpose.
The commercial one was more realistic with every details showed, back and front view and every stitches, cuts, fabric, pattern of the model explained. The figure, accessories and face of your illustration
was not important, only the garment was!
The artistic one was exactly the contrary of the commercial! More important was to show the over all impression and it had to be very pleasant to the eyes!
