The British Motorcyclists Federation, the
organisation that caters for the needs of today's road rider! But just what has
the BMF got to offer the biker nut? More than a spanner that's for sure! The
British Motorcyclists Federation represents the rider, not the bike they ride.
Race rep or retro, tourers or trail, sports, streetfighter or scooter, custom or
chop, British, Japanese, Italian, German, American, it really doesn't matter at
all, what the BMF is about is providing a representative voice for todays rider.
Currently membership stands at around 140,000 members, either as individuals or
through one of our 340 plus affiliated clubs. They help make the BMF one of the
largest rider's groups in the World. Because there are major issues that will
affect your chosen way of life, it's important that your voice is heard, but as
an individual this is difficult to do, so at the BMF we: · Employ researchers
and analysts to ensure that we are well briefed on bike legislation. · Produce
our own policy documents putting the case of the motorcyclist. · Stress the
environmental benefits of the motorcycle as a means of relieving congestion. ·
Lobby MPs and MEPs on motorcycling issues. · Work with the media to raise the
profile of motorcycling. · Are members of FEMA (Federation of European
Motorcyclists' Associations) ensuring an effective voice in Europe. In addition
to this we sit on various committees, including those of the British Standards
Institute and the Theft Action Group, to ensure that the road rider gets the
best possible deal. But away from these representative roles there are other
benefits to BMF membership
MAG UK MOTORCYCLE ACTION
GROUP
The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) was formed
in 1973 to campaign for voluntary crash helmet use . Since that time MAG has
broadened the scope of its activities, making MAG the leading body campaigning
on behalf of motorcyclists in the UK. The organisation is made up of 16 regions.
The 16 regional Representatives form the backbone of the National Committee.
These are supported by working parties with specific responsibilities
(Technical, Financial, Promotional etc). In addition to Regional Reps, County
and Town Reps ensure that local members are kept informed and that their views
are represented at national level. It is feared that motorcycles will eventually
be banned following European harmonisation of transport legislation. To combat
this threat, MAG has forged links with Riders' Groups throughout Europe, notably
as a founder member of the Federation of European Motorcyclists Associations
(FEMA).
