At our local sewing club monthly meetings we have a fun activity where members bring their "less attractive" stash items to trade with others. The challenge is to make something from this stash reject, lovingly referred to as "dog" fabric. I got a lime green and black striped knit, so I used it as piping on a black vest. To continue the fun, I made a blouse from Stretch &Sew #175 and used a beautiful design from Sewbev called "Goddess" with "Queen of Denial" done in the Coventry font and combined for the Plus Hoop in Borders &Fonts. I did "Goddess" in Madeira's copper metallic thread.

This is a full shot of the vest, a pattern by Sandra Betzina from The Sewing Workshop Collection. I used the same material as the piping to make a frog closure on a silver button. The frog is from an older book by Diane and Lois Ericson titled "Design It Yourself." Since the embroidery is on the blouse, I didn't put any on the vest--it was hard not to though!
