This shirt is one I did for our local Embroidery Club to feature "Smocking Without a Pleater." I have always admired the look of smocking but didn't want to invest in a pleater since I wouldn't use it that often. Karen Hinrichs shared this technique on one of our sewing lists. I tried it and I liked it! I didn't have quite enough fabric for the shirt, so I "pieced" it with the smocked insert. I used the smocking stitches on my Designer 1 and a free design by Phyllis Philips on the smocked pieces. I finished it with white snap closures. This is very comfortable Stretch & Sew pattern #344.  I have these instructions on my Instructions/Tutorials page.
