This is a vest I made using Lois and Diane Ericson's pattern #314.  It is made of two coordinating fabrics which are cut in a wavy pattern and then woven together.  Once woven, a decorative stitch is used on the raw edges.  The back is out of the plain gold.  Both fabrics are 100% cotton.
I found in my stash an gold belt fastener.  By making buttonholes for the slots where the belt would normally go, I could place them flat on the vest for the closure.  With the slot thru the buttonhole, I glued a tab of ultrasuede on the back side to hold it in place.
