NEW YORK, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- A man will soon be able to dress down to his toes in Donna Karan New York - literally. Donna Karan International (NYSE:DK) has signed a license agreement with Echo Lake Industries Limited, a privately owned firm, to produce a Donna Karan New York men's hosiery collection. The line bows for Holiday 1998.
"As a premiere menswear Company, we want to wardrobe a man in as complete a fashion as possible with each element advancing the Donna Karan design aesthetic," states John Idol, Chief Executive Officer of Donna Karan International. "We are confident that our collaboration with Echo Lake Industries will enable us to create an exclusive men's hosiery collection."
Echo Lake, which produces fine Italian socks, is considered a leader in the Italian men's hosiery field. Aligning forces with such a company is part of Donna Karan International's overall strategy to team with the best in a given business.
Larry Khazzam, Executive Vice President and a shareholder of Echo Lake, a family-owned business based in Plainview, New York adds, "We are very excited at the prospect of pioneering a men's designer hosiery category. Donna Karan has built a substantial menswear business worldwide and we feel that this new men's hosiery collection will be a natural extension of that success."
Under the agreement, Echo Lake will manufacture, market and distribute the new collection which will be comprised of fine socks made of combed and mercerized cottons, merino wools, as well as cashmere. The palette will reflect the sensibility of the Donna Karan New York Menswear Collection, the international label introduced in 1992. The DKNY Men's hosiery collection will be available throughout the United States and Canada and will include dress, casual and sport lines, mirroring DKNYs range of lifestyle products. Fabrics will include cotton and wool blends, with retail price points between $9.00 to $15.00. Hosiery colors will range from sandy tones to darks of charcoal, navy, brown, and, of course, black. The hosiery will later be available to existing Donna Karan New York Menswear accounts as well as Donna Karan New York free-standing stores throughout the world.
Donna Karan International Inc. is one of the world's leading fashion design houses. It designs, markets and distributes "designer" and "bridge" collections of women's and men's apparel, sportswear, accessories and shoes under the Donna Karan New York and DKNY brand names. The Company has selectively granted licenses for the manufacture and distribution of beauty and beauty-related products, DKNY jeans and activewear, hosiery, intimate apparel, eyewear and children's apparel.
This license agreement is the first of its kind for Echo Lake, founded in 1989. Echo Lake manufactures under the labels Lorenzo Uomo, Franco Bettoni and Echo Lake respectively.

Secondly, send a mail to Joanne Beck, Consumer Relations of DKNY and support them. Ask them to also produce sheer nylon ones!
Lastly, many people are still stubborn and cannot accept new things. They are typically the ones who stop the Earth from rotation. Just remember - We have the right to choose!
