Express your individuality! That's what's most important! These tips here are to help you along the way!

Feel like lately everyone asks if your sick? Maybe that new "trendy" color's the reason! Fashion is all about colors and the illusion of lines!

It's been brought to my attention that a certain individual finds my generalization of skin colors for each season as offending. Please do not take offence to this, for it is ONLY meant as a generalization. Only a professional color analizer can help you choose the right colors for you and there are certainly acceptions to these rules -- if you could even call them rules. (For this blonde who can wear darker purples and blues great knows that =P )

Colors

Everyone has a set of colors that look best on them! There are four main categories: springs, winters, falls, and summers.

SPRING

Springs are usually lighter skinned people with varying hair colors and can wear warmer-tone pastels. Some of the colors that look good on springs: light yellow, peaches, rosy pink, light lime green, and some greenish-blues.

SUMMER

Summer's are lighter-skinned too (hair color can vary anywhere from blonde to black), but they look better in cooler colored pastels! Some are: baby blues, aquas, sea green, pinks, and violets.

FALL

Most red-heads are falls, as well as others who look good in warm colors with darker features. They look great in darker warm-toned colors such as: rusty red, advacado, kelly green, darker lime green, reddish-violet, browns, and mustard

WINTER

Darker-toned people with dark features look best in bold cooler tones. Some are: white, black, bold red, blue, yellow, turquiose, and neon colors

Illusion of Lines

Lines can maker you appear thinner, larger, taller, and shorter! They can quickly hide a fault, or bring it out even more, so BEWARE!

HORIZONTAL LINES

Horizontal lines can make you appear wider. People concerned looking larger(in some areas or all)can appear so by wearing a striped shirt or even skirt! Would you like to make your bust appear larger? Try a sweater or shirt that has stripes on the bust line (the widest area on your chest).

VERTICAL

Vertical lines make a person appear thinner and taller! Want to be taller? Try a pair of jeans or pants with stripes on the sides! Think you're too short-waisted or hide larger bust? Wear a shirt w/ vertical striping on it!

BODY TYPES

There are four types: Rectangle, Hourglass, Triangle, and Wedge. They say the perfect type is hourglass, but I feel that all body types are attractive. The purpose is to accentuate your body in the right areas so the body doesn't seem disproportionate.

Rectangle

The rectangle body shape, even though more rare in adults, is quite common in teenagers because the body hasn't filled out yet. The body silhouette is characterized by being well-shaped but has a lack of curves and a defined waistline. Even though it's typecasted as a slender and shorter frame, rectangles come in all heights and body sizes. Many athletes have a rectangle silhouette.

If you'd like to add the illusion of a more curvaceous body, add an A-line skirt that 'poofs' out at the hips. Accentuating the waist line with a belt is another way.

Triangle

Triangle (or pear) shapes have a lower torso that is more pronounced than the bust and shoulders, they also have a well-defined waistline. This body type is said to be the most common in grown women. While it is stereotyped that pear shaped people have huge hips and thighs, this is not necessarily true, there are many more slender women out there that have slightly more accentuated hips.

If you'd like to bring your body more into proportion, wear things that accentuate the bust and shoulders. To draw the eye upwards, wear lighter colors on top and darker on the bottom. Also wear shirts with a lot of detailing. (the 'tattoo shirts' whould be great for this!)

Hourglass

Hourglass shapes have the most balanced body. They usually have the same or about the same width hips and bust, with an accentuated waist. Hourglass silhouettes come in all body sizes and heights.

Hourglass shapes have few limitations. Wear fitted shirts and outfits that accentuate the small waist-line. Avoid clothing that puts too much emphasis on either the bust or the hips, which could cause the body look disproportionate.

Wedge

Wedge body types have broad shoulders and a waste line and hips that are more narrow. They also may have a larger bust. The legs are usually longer and more slender.

Wedge bodies can wear more tapered dresses and slacks to show off great legs while making the shoulders and bust look more narrow. Larger jackets that go over a fitted skirt is a great way to do this!
