Affedavit.

My name is Alemtsehay Haddis. I am an Ethiopian national residing in Sanaa, Yemen. I fled to yemen  in December of 2003 after suffering detention,harassment and mistreatment at the hands of the Ethiopian government agents after my brother Robel Haddis left Ethiopia in October of 2003.
Security agents who have been following my brother turned against me after my brother left the country and I had no option but to flee the country.

Especially my brother has suffered a lot in Ethiopia. His only crime was being born to an Eritrean father. Although our mother is Ethiopian and we have nothing to do with Eritrea, Robel 
was harassed, mistreated, imprisoned and also dismissed from work as a result of his ethnic heritage. Although less intense, We also faced harassment and mistreatment not only from the government side but also from local people who know our ethnic heritage.


When Robel was arrested in July 2003 at Wereda 17 Police station, I visited him and provided him with food and clothing. After my brother was released with the help of my Uncle 
he continued to face harassment from government agents. My mother and I were so worried and advised him to do what it takes to get out of the country. Out of desperation,
he was even planning to go to Kenya through Ethio-Kenyan border. However, God helped us and he got trainning workshop and managed to go to the US.

I strongly believe that if my brother is forced to return to Ethiopia while the current dictatorial regime is in power, he will face imprisonment and torchure once again like his friends are. 
My brother also suffered prison in April 2001 student boycott. I swear in the name of God that the affidavit I have given above is true and based on my own personal knowledge.
