And now the hunks queue up!

The countdown to the sixth Grasim Mr India 2000 pageant has started and the shortlisted hunks have begun sharpening their wits and toning their pectorals. Delhi hunks seem to have scored a point - there are as many as nine of them out of a total of 26 shortlisted candidates. The event, which will be held in Hyderabad on February 26th, will be preceded by six sub contests - Mr Photogenic, Best Smile, Best Dressed, Best Physique, Mr Popular and Mr Wit.

Yukta in the footsteps of Ash-Sush

The film bug strikes yet another beauty queen! Of course, (like it is wont to) it has claimed the brightest reigning star - Miss World 1999 Yukta Mookhey - as its newest victim. The gliteratti is abuzz with the news of Yukta having cut an informal deal with producer Boney Kapoor. While Kapoor has promised to cast Yukta in his next film, the 5ft10 inches beauty has assured Boney of signing on the dotted lines as soon as her contract with Miss World Inc. ends. However, to be fair to the lady, Yukta's acting ambitions have not sprouted as an aftermath of the Miss World crown. In fact, she had reportedly signed a low-budget film Gulabo before winning the Miss World title. Later of course, Mookhey chose to opt out due to her post-Miss World busy schedule and the fact that she had already begun getting feelers from industry bigwigs. Well, it's only a matter of time ... watch out for the towering beauty!

Hrithik Roshan: Success Changes All Equations!

Yes it's true. Success does change all equations. Take Hrithik's case. The phenomenal performance of his debut 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' has really changed the way people think of him. And there has been a sea change in people attitude towards him. For instance, there was this actress (no we're not taking any names, so keep guessing) who turned down two films with him before the release of 'Kaho Na…', but when it did well at the turnstiles, she immediately did an about turn and is said to be now moving heaven and earth in order to get the projects revived again. And is Hrithik ready to let bygones be bygones. We're not telling yet. But keep connected and you just might get lucky! ....  filmfare

                             Lakme

face of the millennium

Lisa Ray

Lisa Ray, the former queen-bee of the modelling world, is all set to reclaim her crown. After reinstating her glamour and sex appeal through a series of classy Lakme ads, the light-eyed sultry beauty has now been declared as the company's "face of the millennium." "Like Lakme's earlier models that included the likes of Shaymolie Verma and Aishwarya Rai, we wanted a woman who has external and internal beauty and someone, who feels on top of the world," says Sonia Singh, marketing manager, Lakme. Well, considering the raving popularity of the Lakme ads featuring Lisa, looks like the cosmetics company might just have hit the jackpot. After all, lissome Lisa and soaring profit figures sure make for a hot combination!

Yukta Mookhey

Yukta Mookhey, owes her Miss World title to her `upbringing'. Not to her physical beauty alone. Sushmita Sen did not want to rest on her laurels forever despite being heralded as the most beautiful woman in the the universe.
Instead, she wanted to be ``looked up to as a role model and a leader and not just an 18-year old girl who once did her country proud.'' Aishwarya Rai, according to Tanuja Chandra, film-maker, is ``very nice looking but also very intelligent,'' apart from having held the Miss World title too. Obviously, Indian beauty is undergoing a strange metamorphosis, even as it is invading the world with its mesmeric charms.
