Turn order relly does matter. Sure your saying that it dosen't have that much of an effect on the game. Well it can make the diffrence of winning or loseing. First of all lets review the turn goes like this:
1. Untap 2. Upkeep 3. Draw 4. Main 5. Discard 6. Cleanup
UNTAP O.K. now that we have the order done lets find out what happens in each turn. During your Untap Phase no fast effects are allowed. Also all things untap at the same time. The only thing you really do during this turn is chose what untaps (If you can)
UPKEEP This is a very important part of your turn it is where you pay Echo and many other things. This turn is sometimes ignored untill the next phase. For example: My friend plays his Masticore and then discards his card after his draw phase.
DRAW This is where you draw your card. It is very self-explanitory. All you have to do is pick up the card on the top of your library.
MAIN This is where most of the action is. You attack and play all your cards then. What you want to do is attack then play your cards. The only time you would want to play cards before this is if it would help your attack. This makes your opponent waste his spells on your lesser creatures. Then you lay yours and he wasted his spell on something he wished he didn't.
DISCARD In this Phase you discard your cards untill you have 7 or less.
CLEAN UP No fast effects are allowed here either. During this phase all non-leathal damage is worn off.
The main thing you should have gotten out of this is turn order and that you should attack before you play any other cards. Unless they help your attack. |
