Uniforms

Uniforms became more fashionable in the age of mass production. It was easy to simplify high fashion suits and dresses to create identical uniforms for school and work.
The 'Air Stewardess' (as they were called then) uniforms were generally dark blue, immaculately clean and tailored suits. The life of a Stewardess was considered an exiting and glamorous life and many young women joined with the specific purpose of catching a husband.

The now defunct Australian airline Ansett had Emilio Pucci design their flight attendant uniforms in the early 70s. The floral dresses remained in service from 1974 till the mid 80s when Australian designer Trent Nathan was commissioned to design the uniforms. His designs were rejected and the uniforms were eventually designed by Yves Saint Laurent.
