Kids School Sweater

Whew…they really go through clothes…I knitted this cause I just couldn’t keep up with my two by hand, and needed a simple and reliable sweater while we were living in Germany.

Machine: Brother KX350
Sizes: S(3-5), M(5-7), L(7-9),XL(sm adult)
Materials: 2(2)(3)(5) skeins Red Heart Supersaver
Gauge: 4 sts/6R=1 in.

Back:

RC000. T8. E-wrap Cast on 56(60, 74, 84)sts.
K 1 row.
T9. K 9(9, 11,11)R.
Rehang 2x2 rib.
K to RC 48 (60, 80, 80). Place marker.
K even to RC77(97, 117,126).
Neckline: COR. Place RH 28 (30,37, 42)sts in HP.
Scrap off remaining left hand sts.
Replace carriage on the right and pick up main yarn.
RC 77(97, 117, 126): K 1 R
RC 78(98, 118, 127): BO 7(6,7,9) sts from neck edge. K back
RC 80(100,120,129): BO 0(3,3,3)sts from neck edge. K back.
RC 82(102, 122, 131): Dec 1(2,1,2)sts at neck edge = 18(18, 25, 28) sts.
K 1 row.
Bind off.
Repeat from R 77(97, 117, 126), reversing shaping.

Front:

Work as for back to RC 62(82,105, 122)
Shape neckline:
Place RH 28(30, 37, 42)sts in HP and scrap off remaining left hand stitches. Replace carriage on the right And work on these right hand sts only.
RC 62(82, 105, 122): K 1 row
RC 63(83, 106, 123): BO 4(4, 6, 7) sts at neck edge. K back.
RC 65(85, 108, 125): BO 0(3,3,4) sts at neck edge. K back.
RC 67(87,110,127): Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 (4, 2,3) times = 18(18, 25, 28) sts.
Repeat for opposite shoulder, reversing shaping.

Join one shoulder by pulling scrapped off stitches through bound off stitches and then binding them off.

Neckband:

T8. Pick up 21(30,30, 37) sts from bacck and 46(46, 48, 39) sts from front. (You can estimate here if need be).
K 1 row.
T9. K 6(6,7,8)rows.
Rehang 2x2 rib.
Bind off neck.

Sleeves:

T9. Rehang 68(80,82,100)sts between markers.
Dec 1st each side every 2(3,4,4)R until there are 35(36,36,38)sts.
K 4R even.
T7 K10(12,12,14)rows. Rehang 2x2 rib.
Bind off sleeve.

Join opposite shoulder as with first shoulder and knit other sleeve.
Join side and sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
