What is Pashmina? Pashmina (better Known to the Western World as Cashmere Wool) is the soft Underbelly fur of the mountain goats (Ibex) which lives in the cold high (15000 ft or higher) Himalayan Regions in South Asia. The size of Pashmina hair is 1/6th of a human hair. Every summer herders pluck the under-fur from the goats and after cleaning and spinning, Pashmina (Cashmere) yarn is produced. From one goat only 4 to 8 ounce of pashmina can be produced.
