What is the Safe Swapper?

The Safe Swapper newsletter is a free website that gives safe swapping tips, and includes a site which offers updates on potentially bad swappers. It will include swaplifters from Mikki’s old swap page (some of the more experienced swappers will remember this)as well as other external sources.

How does this differ from the Swap Police?

First, the Safe Swapper does not give out references by email. Second, subscribers will always have the website at their fingertips. Third, the Safe Swapper does not mediate in swap problems except in extreme cases. The newsletter and the Swap Police are both useful tools, but in different ways.

How can I submit a report?

Swappers who submit a report MUST have at least two good swap references (one can be the Swap Police). This is a requirement. Possibly more may be needed if the references given cannot be contacted. Hopefully, it will prevent swaplifters from seeking revenge on good swappers who have reported them in the past. See the end of this page for what information to send.

Can you help me with my swap problems?

The website will soon offer suggestions and hints for a better swap. The Safe Swapper is based solely on what is sent by subscribers as well as the external sources mentioned. The Safe Swapper may or may not verify any of the information given to us by subscribers. The Safe Swapper will not be held accountable for any negative situations that may arise from this website.

What is a "bad swapper?"

A swap can be determined to be "bad" if any or all of the following occur:

  1. The swap did not arrive.
  2. Items received were in poor, unclean condition.
  3. The swap was inexcusably late.
  4. Items received were misrepresented.
  5. Swapper was rude/did not respond when confronted with one of the above.
  6. Swapper falsified references.

These are the 6 levels of a bad swap and each subscriber who reports a bad swapper must assign at least one of these numbers to their comments.

Do you list names and address of bad swappers?

Names are indeed listed, including all aliases, along with all known email addresses. The state or country the swapper lives in will also be listed, if the information is given. However, full addresses will not be listed.

Are there any potential additions to the Safe Swapper in the works?

An interactive website may be in the works sometime in the future. This would work like an Ebay feedback system, so that good swappers could also be checked.
