The BERENICE’S
KINGDOM is a world-wide female friendship Club, established by Florindo Di Monaco
(Italy) in 1995.
The BERENICE'S KINGDOM , by referring to cultural and
historical values the people of the world have always given to hair, has the aim to keep
alive the cult and the millenary tradition of the long and very long women hair. These
values are part of the deeply rooted traditional uses and customs of our past times.
It fosters any non profit-making actions or initiatives aiming at the exhaltation of the
eternal poetry and endless charme and romanticism of the long women hair, considered as
cultural and natural treasure to be kept through great care.
The BERENICE'S KINGDOM is also and above all an opportunity
of friendship and meeting.
IT LINKS
IDEALLY AND SYMBOLICALLY ALL THE WOMEN
IN THE WORLD
All the women with long and very long hair can join it and be DAMSELS.
To publish the various proposals of
initiatives and its activities, the Club makes use of all the members help and its
club-sheet news which is open
to everybody's cooperation.
The BERENICE'S KINGDOM can have local groups and seats (named
"courts") throughout the world: the local branches are founded if in an area the
cult for the long hair is particularly alive and widespread.
All the seats represent the BERENICE'S KINGDOM in that town
or region and will depend on the principal seat which is in ITALY.
For each branch seat the King and the Queen appoint an AMBASSADRESS, who is the damsel with the longest hair.
Connected with the length of
the hair, the Damsels have the following symbolical titles:

70-75 cm. 75-80 cm. 80-85 cm. 85-90 cm. 90-95 cm. 95-100 cm. |
and then constitute the FAIRY COURT. The Fairy with the longest hair
is appointed the QUEEN of the BERENICE'S KINGDOM and wears
a symbolical crown.

| BERENICE'S KINGDOM |
| BERENICE was an Egyptian queen with extremely long hair. She lived about third century before Christ. A veil of gorgeous silky shiny loose hair down her was reaching up to feet and flooding the floor. One day she cut her longest plaits for votive offering when her husband, the Egypt king, arrived safe and sound from a very risky war. But unknown thiefs stole the cut hair from the temple where it was kept, so the queen was weeping it heart out from then on. Just the court's astronomer to comfort her disconsolate queen saw he found Berenice's hair in the starry sky transformed in constellation still today called "Berenice's hair". So she lives for ever in our club's name too. |
