Silhouette Logo Originally founded in the Germany in 1887 by Max Lobbenberg and Emil Blumenaut, the brand name Silhouette was first used in Britain in the 1930's. It is well worth reading the History of Silhouette at the Double-D web-site which describes how they even produced a radio-active corset during the 1930's.

Popular in the UK during the 50's and 60's they are probably best remembered for their “Little-X” designed by Ann-Marie Lobbenberg in the early sixties and which is still available, 40 years later. In North America many of they were sold under by the Peter Pan brand label. The company had a history of visually powerful and stylish full page advertisements some of which are shown in this and following pages.
