Jedi weren't exactly new to your world, but one who was so enchanting certainly was. Sure, you'd heard wondrous stories of the Jedi and their strength of character, devotion and skill since before you could walk. But now, there was a living, breathing version looming right before your eyes; and for the life of you, you were completely taken aback by this Knight.
The second he emerged from the transport you caught your breath. The aura surrounding this man was so tangible, you felt as if you could brush your hand against his signature and surely feel the sting of his life's breath. When you were standing amongst the receiving line, and he bowed before you, time seemed to stop, but why? Yes, he was the most magnificent creature to grace your presence in ages, but that wasn't it. Your feelings ran so much deeper than the physical plain.
This Jedi had beguiled you; everything about him seemed to pull you deeper within his unknowing spell. Now you found yourself sitting amongst the palace garden daily, just to watch him practice with his lightsaber or to perform the graceful moves of an unknown kata in the early morning light. Sure, you hid yourself well, behind the large fragrant shrubs, taking up your perch amongst the large stones. And you would try your best to pretend your non-interest in the Jedi, whenever someone would stumble upon your watch. You'd even gone so far as to bring your cat with you as an excuse to be in the gardens so early in the morning. Your cat - you were hopelessly grasping for any inch of rope to make you seem less a stalker and more a voyeur. Yet the distance between the two was relatively short, you groaned inwardly as the contented cat purred in your lap.
You could state the exact second you lost your heart to this noble man. It was the day you stumbled upon him as you left an early morning meeting; you had found him deep in conversation with a young child. As you stood in the shadows, you noticed the caring look in his eyes, the gentleness of his hands while he tried to explain what a Jedi was to this fragile mind before him. His smile was your undoing, the moment that look crossed his face, it was contagious. Truthfully, it was mesmerizing to watch the mirth and hidden mischief in that one flash of unguarded emotion in this powerful man. That was the beginning of your descent into enamoured want, plain and simple, you loved his compassion entwined so easily amongst his warrior's strength. This Jedi was two sides of the same coin. Immeasurable strength and fierceness on one hand and mirth and compassion on the other, two opposites that should not meet, yet he wore both as easily as his cloak.
Why, why in all the stars above, couldn't you bring yourself from out of the shadows to speak to this man? What was it that so intimidated you? You could hold your own against any man, yet with this Jedi, you clung to the shadows, watching his every move, his every breath. With all your knowledge and training you could easily communicate with any man, woman or child in nearly twelve languages. Yet words failed you with this Jedi Knight. Why? Was it that he intimidated you in the physical sense...No. Maybe it was that he scared the hell out of you in the matters of the heart. You knew that once you spoke to him, you could easily give him everything, mind, body and soul, without his asking, something you had never given any man. Sure you had thought so at the time, such is the ignorance of youth. But now, with experience and age, you had learned that you had always kept something of yourself hidden away from your lovers. But with this Jedi, you would gladly bare your soul, just to feel his embrace, to touch his innermost self.
Once again, it's late evening as you walk into the garden to read, something you do daily. Yet still your eyes glance tentatively around, just in case you spy your heart's desire out at this late hour. Ludicrous, you are completely and unabashedly crazy, you think to yourself, and roll your eyes as thoughts of spying your wanton Jedi assault your senses. Finally, you sit in your usual spot by the fountain. And as is always the case, within seconds you are completely lost in the one luxury of your hectic life- reading. You are so entranced, you never notice the interested gaze from the Jedi who sits hidden amongst fragrant shrubs, sitting on the large stones, watching you read. Something he has done daily since his arrival at the palace. But this evening will be different, for this evening he has decided to approach the object of his intense attraction...Jedi Kenobi will watch no more.
