Will of PETER GOLDSBY

Recorded in Oglethorpe County, Georgia 8th March 1815

In the name of God Amen--I PETER GOLDSBY of the County of Oglethorpe and State of Georgia being of sound mind and memory; and calling to mind the mortality of all flesh and that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament --

1st -- I give unto my beloved wife Mary GOLDSBY one negro girl known by name of Mine during her natural life and after her death the aforesaid negro girl and her increase should go to my son Richard GOLDSBY to dispose of at his will --

2nd -- I give unto my son Richard GOLDSBY three negroes namely Pompy, Isaac, and Peggy; also all my land which I now possess; also all my stocks of every kind, also all and singular my goods and chattels consisting of household and kitching furniture, also all my grain of every sort and every other vigitable; to him and at his disposial forever --

3rd -- I give unto my daughter Sarah MURRY GOLDSBY five dollars --

4th -- I give unto William JENNINGS two negroes namely Robert and Queen to him and at his disposial forever --

5th -- I give unto my daughter Molly D. JOHNSON three negroes namely Stephen, Milly, Della to her and at her disposial forever,

6th -- I give unto my daughter Rebecca Ruth three negroes namely Jenny, Lot, Matilda, to her and at her disposial forever.

7th -- I give unto my daughter Lucy GOLDSBY fifty dollars to her and her at her disposial forever --

8th -- I give unto my daughter Elizabeth STEPHENS two negroes, namely Nanny and Ann to her and at her disposial forever --

9th -- I give unto Simon GOLDSBY one negro boy known by the name of Patrick when he arrives at the age of twenty-one years also my desire is that my son Richard GOLDSBY should take care of him for Sim till he arrives to the age of twenty --

10th - My will and desire is that all debts that may be in hand at my death should go to my son Richard GOLDSBY and to him at his disposial --

11th - I also appoint Richard GOLDSBY and John THORNTON executors to this my last will and testament. All other heretofore made by me.

In testamony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of January of 1812.
