Over the last couple of years, I've met a lot of people with a lot of dogs. Most of them are from chat rooms. Some of them are from lists. This page is dedicated to those dogs who are family and friends of Abri's - and mine, too, of course. There will be more added as time passes and only with the permission of the owners of the dogs.
So, now, I'd like to introduce you to these special dogs and people.
John and Zoe Butler
I had the great pleasure of meeting John and Zoe in Seattle in September of 1998. They are from the West Coast of Australia, in the state of Western Australia - the other WA. On a long holiday, they travelled in Alaska and some of Canada. It was when they were in Victoria that we put our plans to meet into action. They rode the ferry from BC to Seattle - 4 hours. Abri and I drove three or so hours to the ferry terminal in Seattle and waited for the ferry to arrive. We'd seen each other's pictures, which would have made it easier to recognize one another. I'm terrible with things like that, so they'd have recognized me first. But, there was no doubting who was who when they came out of the terminal and recognized Abri right off the bat. Abri, always a great embassador, had been wowing all the people waiting for the ferry. John, Zoe, Abri and I spent a few hours in a park eating a chinese food lunch and talking dogs. Then I saw them off on a Greyhound bus that was taking them back to Victoria. Another 4 hour trip. From there they went to California - San Francisco and the Los Angeles areas - to wind up their holiday. I had a great time that day and hope that they did, too. John and Zoe are truly two of the nicest people I've ever had the privilege of meeting.
VOSHI
Voshi is Abri's uncle. This handsome guy has the brains and instinct to go with the great looks and structural conformation. He is owned by Jean Brennan and shown by Jim Brennan.
Lancer
I met Lancer's owner in the Dog Room at Acme Pet. I was there when the planning started to get a Belgian Turveran puppy. I was there the day she came into the Dog Room all excited and saying that her "puppy was conceived today." She had planned on a female puppy. I was in the Dog Room the day she came in saying that it could only happen to her - the whole litter was boys. I told her, then, that it sounded like something that would happen to me, too. As it turned out, I was right. I'd wanted a male, and the litter Abri came from was all girls. Lancer and Abri, Lancer's owner and I, met in real life at a dog show in Puyallup, WA in the winter of 1997. This picture was taken at that show, when Lancer was about 9 months old.
Teddy the Charmer
Not only is he a friend of ours from the Vizsla e-mail list, he is also one of Abri's cousins.
**News Flash** -- Red Hawk finished his championship on 7 September 1998. His official registered name is now:
CH Red Hawk of Benmar
He and his sister,
Rose
(below) belong to Nancy and Skip Alexander. I've known these two pups since before they were born, and it was Nancy who helped me find a breeder when I was looking for a vizsla. Their father, Apache, is one of the very first vizslak I ever met in person. Apache finished his championship at a very young age, and it looks like these two kids of his are going to do the same. These two pics were taken at the same show, where they both took major points toward their championships. Keep up the good work, friends.
