Vani joined the family on September 6th of 1998. She was born in January of 1997 and is an adult dog. As I quickly learned, even adult dogs need to be treated like puppies when they come into a new home. She is settling in very nicely.
Why did we get another Vizsla, you ask? Well, Abri really needed another dog around. Some breeds are great by themselves. And, vizslas can live with just their humans. But, in June, while running around on a ranch with about 20 other Vizslas, poor Abri didn't really know how to play with the others. I decided it was time to get her a playmate who could keep up with her.
Vani's mother is Abri's grandmother. I knew the breeding. I knew the owners. And, when they decided she needed a new home, I decided Vani would fit right in. It wasn't easy at first, but, she's doing great, now.
Vani has some very funny little quirks and we love them. And there are some funny stories. She slept one whole night in her crate, then joined us on the bed. A couple of nights after this started, I came to bed after everyone else was asleep. You know, that hobby of "chatting" on the internet keeps me up late, at times. I climbed into bed in the dark, reached out to put my arm over my husband, and found that, where his head should have been, there was a tail .. under the covers. Vani had made herself quite at home in the bed. :)
