bird flying Crying Clouds

The rain began so quietly
So deep within the night
And carried on until the clouds
Just cried with all their might
And when I tried to dry their tears
They scurried 'cross the sky
Wringing out their desperate hands
Continuing to cry
I stood by watching helplessly
And felt their endless pain
I floated in their floods of tears
While drowning in their rain
I felt not I could comfort them
Nor wish away their tears
Until I came to realize
Within my wildest fears
These clouds weren't torrid thunderstorms
Rampaging 'cross the lands
Nor hurricanes to stir the seas
And whip up beaches' sands
These clouds were my emotions
Raging deep within my soul
Hurt echoing my empty heart
Had begun to take its toll
Then as I stood and pondered this
The clouds dried all their tears
And danced and played across the skies
My ears filled with their cheers

The sun popped out and smiled at me
And golden rays of light
Spread quickly through my darkened heart
And stole away the night
The beauty that surrounded me
I saw for my first time
For I'd been lost in self-remorse
And wandered through life blind
As I stood there smiling up
I knew I'd seen the light
My pain and tears were gone for good
Swallowed with the night
Sometimes a cloud or two may pass
Across my clear, blue sky
But I'll never let it storm again
I hate to see clouds cry
