Bread & Glue S*W*A*P*S

Materials Needed
Soft White Bread with the crusts removedBlender to grind up bread
Tacky Glue (Aleene's for example)Bowl for mixing
Mini Cookie CuttersGlue gun
Rolling PinPins
Food coloring if desiredDecorating materials

Directions:
Basic recipe is two pieces of bread to a dollop (about a Tablespoon) of Tacky glue

Take bread with crust removed and blend in a blender or food processor. (you don't need to do this, you could just tear the bread into small pieces, however I have found that using a blender to grind up the bread made the whole process a lot easier and the results were better.

Blend one piece of bread at a time (if using a blender) and place crumbs in bowl.

If you want to color the dough. Add the color to the glue and mix before adding the glue to the bread crumbs.

Add a dollop of tacky glue and mix with fingers. At first it seems hopeless, but in a couple of minuets it will begin to resemble play-dough and will not stick to your fingers anymore. Add more bread if it's still too wet, or more glue if it's to dry

Now knead the mixture in your hands to make sure it's mixed well. Do this for about a minute or two.

Roll out the dough.

Take cookie cutters and cut out the dough.

(optional) You can add decorations in contrasting colors of dough if you wish.

Let them air dry - this takes about a week. When dry they are like a plastic resin material.
OR
Use a food dehydrator to dry them and turn once or twice a day. Will be ready to use in a day.

Glue pins on back with a hot glue gun.

Decorate any way you wish.

Markers, paint, glitter, etc. Let the girls use their imagination.

What we did is we painted on watered down glue and then sprinkled glitter on the top. We let that dry for a bit. Then we painted the edges with watered down glue and sprinkled more glitter on it in a contrasting color. If you are going to use the same color on both the top and the edge you can do it all at once.

Our girls came up with some real neat designs using the glitter and they just loved them.

Here are some samples of ones we have made.
