This is my second or third attempt at creating a home page. My name is Jackie Thibodeaux. I live in Gray, La., a small town about 45 minutes south of New Orleans. I have been married to my husband, Michael, for 25 1/2 years, since May 27, 1972. We have two terrific children, Mike Jr. and Aimee. Mike is 23 years old and has been married since June 15, 1996 to the former Shantel Guidry. On November 18, 1997 they gave us our first grandbaby, a beautiful little boy named Peyton Michael. Aimee is 19 years old and engaged to be married next year.
I enjoy being with family and friends most of all, but I also enjoy camping, bowling, genealogy, and listening to my husband and friends play guitars. We go camping with the same friends that Michael plays guitars with and their families. Michael and I bowl on a mixed league once a week which is a lot of fun and good exercise. I have been doing genealogy for about eight years. I have extensively researched the Seghers line, which is my mother's maiden name. I have also done some research on the LeBlanc, Mollere, Duffel, Thibodeaux, Duet, Ford, Rome and Bonamour lines.
I am a sixth generation New Orleanean. My great-great-great grandparents were Dominique and Marie Anne D'otronge Seghers from Brussels, Belgium. Their oldest son, Julian Seghers who was also born in Belgium, was my great-great grandfather. He married Virginia Duffel, daughter of Edward Duffel II and Celeste Landry from Donaldsonville. Julian and Virginia's son Francois D'ortronge was my great grandfather. He married Marie Alexis St. Amant. They were from the New Orleans area. Their son Francois "Rene" was my grandfather. He married Etta Mollere, daughter of Heno Mollere, Jr. and Coralie LeBlanc from Donaldsonville. Coralie's family was from the St. James area. Rene and Etta's first child, Marguerite, is my mother. My dad is Henry Ford, but everyone in the family calls him Bud. I have one brother, Bob. My dad's family is from the Thibodaux and Morgan City area.
I hope to do more research in the future and will try to have pictures. If you have any information on any of my lines or if you need any information that I might be able to help you with, please feel free to e-mail me at mjthib@cajunnet.com .I am also a member of Terrebonne Genealogy Society. Please sign my guestbook before you leave and visit often. This site will be under construction for quite some time. Fell free to bring a friend or two.
