FREEDOM
By Linda Nixon

ON THIS TRAIL OF LIFE WE BEAR,
SO FAR FOR ME,
THE SPAN OF SOME FORTY YEARS.
I'VE BEEN TO TRAGEDY, PAIN AND PRIDE,
BUT NOW I TRAVEL WITH OPEN EYES.
MY CHOICE OF DESTINATION
FOR YEARS HAD ALL BEEN IN VAIN.
NOW ALLOW ME PLEASE MY LIFE TO GAIN!
I HAVEN'T ASKED FOR YOUR HELP BEFORE,
BECAUSE THERE HAD BEEN A TIGHTLY CLOSED DOOR.
I TRIED TO JAR IT WIDE FOR A TIME,
BUT FOUND A SNARE, A TRAP INSIDE.
SO FORGIVE ME WORLD IF I DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND.
I'VE JUST GOT TO FOLLOW GOD'S OPEN HAND.
