REVERSIBLE COATS

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make
coats of skin and did cloth them. Genesis 3:21

Once robed in righteous light.
Animal skin's were to replace their holy gowns.
Symbolic of their beastly instinct's that would,
send them back into the ground.

They stood clad in guilt,
something God never intended man to bear.
Yet they freely choose the darker coat
of disobedience to wear.

Now dressed in skin and wool,
the smell of dried blood filled their nostrils.
In horror they had watched,
as the universe witnessed it's first kill.
As man was taught a never before needed skill.
All because they let another sway them from God's will.
They would wear the brand of the nature they had
claimed,
as they hid their faces from God in shame.
Sin had blown out the Spirit's living flame.

Carnal nature reduced man to a lower level,
one where individual survival was all that mattered.
Clearly displayed by their initial reactions,
when they blamed other's for their infractions.

But God gave them hope,
promising to one day reclaim,
His creation now marred by sin.
All who were willing to take the cure from Him.
He promised to once again,
share His Holy garments with them.

Skins of death.
Man living for the pleasures of the flesh.
Private whims happily filled in.
That's how death truly begins.
