Fifth Meeting

Glenda’s Smiley Faces Club
Thursday, January 29, 2004

The meeting was opened with prayer by Bro. Johnnie Stovall, Grand Sentinel.

A delicious potluck meal was enjoyed by all.

Call to order by President, Nancy Rutherford, welcoming everyone and recognized Sis. Glenda Peyton, Grand Conductress, Bro. Johnnie Stovall, Grand Sentinel, & Sis Carol James, Deputy Grand Lecturer Dist. 21.

Sis. Olea Bean, newly elected President, had taken Br. John home from the hospital today and stayed home with him, therefore Sis. Nancy Rutherford presided over the meeting.

New slate of officers are:
President - Sis. Olea Bean
Vice President - Sis. Renee Perry
Secretary - Sis. Marita Ridgway
Treasurer - Sis. Carol James


Minutes read and approved.

Treasurer reported $308.68 in bank as of 12/31/03 and $20.00 in cash box .

Sis. Glenda thanked the Secretary, for sending out invitations to the Chapters in Dist. 21. She said was at one of the Chapters when the invitation was read and it made her feel good.

Sis. Glenda showed the book compiled by Sis. Middie Small, Past WGM, showing all Chapters, Worthy Grand Matrons, Worthy Grand Patrons, Elected and Appointed Officers of OES in the State of Arkansas. The books sell for $5.00. Disk with same information, will possibly be available for $4.00. At this time profits of $305.00 have been donated to Glenda’s Smiley Faces.

Sis. Glenda introduced Bro. Johnnie Stovall, Grand Sentinel, saying how happy she is that he will be serving in the West with her next year and in the East in 2006.

Sis Glenda suggested that she and Bro. Johnnie have their Honor Nights together next year. Discussion followed and all are in support of doing that. She also announced that Bro. Johnnie’s club is “Turkey Trotters” and they are now collecting dues.

Unfinished Business:
Concession Stand at Grand Chapter this year. Glenda’s Smiley Faces will be in charge of it. Sis. Nancy read a list of items that have sold well in the past. Sis. P. A. suggested that we get Wall*Mart Gift Cards to use to buy the food. Bro. Johnnie will check with a friend in the Wholesale Food Business. We will need to take Crock Pots and Coffee Pots to Grand Chapter .

Next meeting we will appoint a Chairperson for the Concession Stand.

Sis. Renee Perry suggested that the Club pay for one room at Grand Chapter for people working in the Concession Stand to use. Motion made and carried that the Club will pay for one room for two nights.

Sickness & Distress:
Bro. John Bean will undergo dialysis three times weekly. Sis. Vivian Carter in Rm 3368 at JRMC with inflammation of the pancreas.

Announcements:
1. Johnnie’s Turkey Trotters will meet 03/09/04, 6:30pm in Arkadelphia.
(Meetings after that will be on fifth Tuesdays.)
2. Proficiency School - 02/06/04 at Union Chapter #40.
3. Faith Chapter - Deputy Grand Lecturer’s Official visit 2/7/04
4. Dist. 25 Proficiency School in El Dorado 2/7/04 morning.
5. Sheridan is having Friendship Night 2/23/04 pot luck at 6:30pm
6. Sis. Nancy Rutherford is in charge of Pre Registration for Grand Chapter
7. Sis. Renee - Sis Laura’s birthday is tomorrow the 30th and she was initiated one year ago.
8. Bro. J.L. Wilson - Masters Degree - Sheridan 2/17/04 with OES serving Masons at 6:00pm.
