(Jeremiah 29:11)
A baby is coming . . . now what?
CSCY offers quality professional counseling to help expectant parents in the St. Louis Archdiocese. Individual circumstances and feelings vary. Exploring your choices with an experienced counselor can help you reach the best decision for your situation. Your counselor can provide you with information, referral, and support as you plan for the future.
If you are considering parenting, your counselor will discuss your areas of concern. Special attention will be given to securing medical care, financial needs, educational/career plans, and parenting skills. Should you choose to parent, support services are available for as long as needed. Active Parenting programs are available to help parents with children age 0-4 years.
If you are considering adoption, planning is focused on your needs and requests. Attention will be given to preparation, family selection, post adoption counseling and follow-up. We offer a program that is flexible and individualized.
No matter what plan you choose, we can also provide you with information and referrals for pregnancy testing, prenatal care, and public or private assistance to help pay for your medical expenses. We can assist you in locating a physician or clinic if needed. Referrals are also given to help you with housing, rent, utilities, food or child care assistance. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis. If temporary living arrangements are needed during the pregnancy, your counselor will assist in exploring options for your situation.
Information is available on prenatal development, well baby care, child development, and parenting skill building. A teen parent support group is also available.
Support services through the Expectant Parent Unit are available to anyone (regardless of sex, age, race, income or religion) currently affected in some way by a pregnancy. Services can begin at any point during the pregnancy and continue after delivery as needed. Services are individualized to make allowances for personal schedules, transportation barriers, etc. Clients can be seen in their home or at various office sites located throughout the St. Louis Archdiocese area. All services are confidential regardless of the clients age.
