(77) Daniel bought 160 acres of land with money he got from serving in War with Indians 1836-1837. Daniel was a Captain in the AL State Militia at age 19, at age 23 was elected Justice of the Peace. In 1841 he was elected Sheriff and in 1844, County clerk. In 1846 he was elected Justice of the Peace in fL. In 1848-1851 he served as a State senator of FL. He was a Master Mason in Tallahassee;, FL. He built and operated Capt. Smith's Water Mill. He was a ship builder and sailed the FL coast for 11 years In 1853 he moved to AR. In 1860 he was elected County Judge of Columbia Co., AR. He was elected State Representative of AR, 1868-1870. He was elected State Senator in 1871. He worked with W. H. Beasley in Little Rock to get AR restored to the Union. In 1872 he was elected Lt. Gov. of AR. A British Whig, he helped put down radicalism in AR. Daniel is buried in Shiloh Cemetery.
