Vanity

I do not want to be
A tormented genius
Yet I want to leave my mark upon your brain
I don't want to live in vain
Although I am not a pleaser
I do not live to please you
I live to please myself.

Vanity is my favorite sin
Nothing is purer
Nothing comes from deeper within
I am my own
I please myself
I want to please
With the fire and desire
Of vanity.

Vanity denied
To this life
I want in simple happyness
Yet could die
If simplified.
