Romanczuk Update, August 1999
Moved Again
We’re back in East Tennessee, have been back since March, though I’m just now getting around to announcing it. Same address (new paint job, finally).
Brain Tissue
We’re supposed to let everyone know we’ve signed to donate Luke and Kate’s brain tissue to the Harvard "Brain Bank." Since the 1980s, Drs. Bauman and Kemper have been studying donated brains of those who had autism. There are actual physical differences, which probably doesn’t surprise anybody. It’s figuring out what all is done by these regions that are noticeably different that is the tricky part. The Boca region, for speech development, is implicated, obviously. What hasn’t been found yet is a difference in the region that makes one cut his mothers bras in half or makes one dump in her bath whole bottles of shampoo, bubble bath, cleansers, etc. The Sudza region. Anyway, in case Cathy and I go or are already gone when Kate and Luke do, here’s notice. The Brain Bank not only gets the brain, they get it prior to any other parts donated (wording Mary Shelley would find interesting. I guess the order of exit matters.)
Dollywood Again
Since we’re only a good hour’s drive from the park Parton bought in the mid 1980s, we have seasons passes. When Luke and Kate went to Camp Easter Seals in June, Cathy and I did a shows visit rather than a rides visit, and brushed up on our Dollyology. I can’t help being sarcastic, but as a project manager, I’m always impressed with the layout and processes.
New Family Dog
We adopted a retired racer in April. Cimmy came already house-broken and well-mannered (which is more than we can say for Luke and Kate). He was described by the woman who got him from the Birmingham Track as "mellow," and he fits right in. You have to be mellow to share a house with Luke and Kate. Cimmy has the life of my dreams: eat, sleep, and have a woman take care of all your needs.
More for the holidays. Jeff
