Closing Comments for Veteran's Day, November 11, 1996
I was standing in my office neighbor's office when he got the call to do the closing remarks. Not at all interested, he said "What about Jeff Romanczuk?" since he knew I was a veteran and happened to be looking at me.
That's how I was selected for the honor back in November of 1996, four years after my active duty and one year after my reserve commitment ended. Even so, the sentiments are heart-felt. Even though I think the military was short-sighted to let me (and many like me) go in 1992, I'll always believe in the U.S. military and be proud of my seven years with the Air Force.
