Note: The AHC refers to horse slaughter as, " processing" and slaughterhouses as "processing plants". $400,000 to fund the drafting & enforcement of guidelines??? That is NOTHING!  The AAEP is studying the horse slaughter process, wants to make sure it is humane. Gee, after rubber stamping the Premarin industry, why waste time & money, WE know what the AAEP is already going to say!

STOLEN HORSES

In reviewing the American Horse Council website there is no mention of stolen horses. As a national organization, "representing" the horse industry , it seems the logical organization to have a national database of stolen horses. A form that owners could fill out with all the information required by law enforcement to aide in the investigation of the horse theft. Photographs & descriptions of stolen horses. National database of "open" horse auctions. Listing of state horse councils, phone numbers, e-mails. Listing of law enforcement to contact in each state.  A network set up to disperse the information on a stolen horse across the country in a matter of minutes. Oh, of course, I forgot. This is not a "nice" topic that affects wealthy racehorse owners & breeders, so I guess the AHC cannot address it. Wonder what "nice term" they can come up with for horse theft..
