Notes:
Non-Frosted, Intensive, and Hard Feather all means the same thing. The feather is slender with the Lipochrome (color) extending all the way to the tip of the feather.
Frosted, Non-Intensive, and Soft Feather all means the same thing. The feather is wider with the tip non-pigmented (white). The frost can be from light and even to very heavily frosted. (More about Feather Types later.)
Dimorphics and Mosaics feathers are broad and the non-pigmented area forming a V extending to the ground color, making the bird appear white on a lipochrome.
Red-Orange Canaries are also called Red Factor, Red Lipochrome, Red, and orange.
Apricots are also called Frosted or Non-Intensive Red-Orange plus all the other names used for Red-Orange.
Gold Brown is also called Brown or Cinnamon.
Clear, ticked and varigated are also terms used with a lipochrome bird.
A red lipochrome bird with no dark markings on it and no frosting would be called a Clear Non-frosted Red-Orange, Non-frosted Red Factor or just Red-Orange.
Melanin + Feather Type + Ground Color
Sometimes the melanin is dropped for a clear bird, but must be specified on a ticked or varigated bird.
The feather type is sometimes dropped on a non-frosted bird, but must be specifed on a frosted bird.
Choose the term you like best (frosted or intensive) and stick with it.
There are 3 ground colors:
Red
Gold (yellow)
Silver (white)
A red self bird in the classic green variety that has frosting is called a Frosted Bronze.
Feather Type + Ground Color + Classic Variety
The last one was too easy. Let's do one more. A red self bird in the classic agate variety that has frosting is called a Frosted Red-Orange Agate or Frosted Red Agate.
Feather Type + Ground Color + Classic Variety
The Orange is generally dropped when added to the Classic Varieties.
A red with the mutated ivory self bird in the classic agate variety with the mutated Satinette factor and has a light even frosting is called a Frosted Rose Agate Satinette.
Feather Type + Ground Color + Classic Variety + Mutation
The red ground color with a Ivory mutation is called a Rose, the Ivory is dropped. Since the mutation affects the ground color, it is listed as the ground color.
Any mutation that affects the classic varieties and not the ground color is listed after the classic variety. There can be more than 1 mutation and they are list by order of appearance.
