B'Elanna is named after a character on Star Trek Voyager, a fiesty, independent half-Klingon, half-human. I would love to be able to say she lives up to her namesake, but, well... she's just not very Klingon! Nonetheless, B'Elanna is a beautiful name for a beautiful ferret, and we love her all the same. :-) We got her two years ago as a kit after a neighbor's son decided that she was too much to care for and he no longer wanted her. (One more lesson about impulse ferret parenting!) She was young enough to rename, thank goodness... her original name did not at all do any young, self-respecting ferret justice. *g* B'Elanna is two years old now and a wonderful addition to our household. She is bright and very personable -- a real people ferret. She loves to be held and played with, and we never even needed to nip-train her! As you can see by the most dignified of poses above, B'Elanna has a little bit of an advantage over most of her fellow fuzzies in the *ahem* girth department. It has happened two years in a row and appears to be seasonal. She is slimming down again now. |
