Being put in the timeout cage is the ferret equivalent of being grounded. Ferrets generally don't respond well to being "spanked," even if it's only a tap on the nose. Time out seems to work best. If one of our babies misbehaves, he or she (mostly -- who else? -- Gabrielle, as seen above *g*) goes in the timeout cage -- a small bare cage with no toys or blankies -- for about three to five minutes. After a few "groundings," the fuzzy should learn to associate the bad behavior with a loss of playtime.
