Today

The devestation of last night seems like years ago.
Today it's bright and beautiful outside.
Last night, the rain fell in torrents.
I guess thes beautiful day marks a new beginning -
For nature, and for me.
I can't believe I let you rule my life for so long.
After I cried a river, to match the rain,
I realized what I had given up for you, for us.
I looked at our lives before we were together,
And I noticed that I was the only one sacrificing anything.
You gave up nothing for me, I gave up so much.
Today, I can go out and start new.
The rain of last night washed away all of my sorrow.
From knowing you, I learned a good lesson -
I'm stronger than I ever knew.
If it hadn't been for our affair,
I wouldn't know I can stand on my own.
For that, I'm grateful.
From our time together,
I will take with me fond memories,
Yes, there were a few.
But I do not regret my decision to leave.
It was time.
I wish you well in your future,
But it will not be with me.
