Just wanted you to know that Mary Vickerman died yesterday, Friday 18th. Her funeral will be on Tuesday the 22nd in Evergreen.

Classmates,
Sonny had open heart surgery today. His father says that he had a valve "changed" and came through the operation just fine. The valve should last him a lifetime. He was even sitting up for a short time. The Drs say he should be the hospital for about a week His dad says during the operation the ribs are spread apart and breaks the breast bone to allow them access to his heart. The Drs say the breast bone heels (completely?) in about three days.

I wanted to let you know that Judy (Jones) Miller's husband Bill died Feb.1. A couple of days after Christmas he had a bond scan and the cancer has spread all over . Last week Carole and I drove to Denver to visit Mary Vickerman. She is very weak and frail and is in hospice care. Carole is doing pretty well after her heart surgery. We saw Cyndie and Carl Cory and he has recovered from his fall. Hope to hear from you. Jerri

Message to Del From Mary (after some editing):
Dear Del, Carole had a triple bypass on last Friday (7/16) at LDS hospital in Salt Lake. She is expected to go home tomorrow. I don't know how close you are to Salt Lake but I thought you would want to know. I talked to her this morning and she sounded very good. I'm in a holding pattern. I'm participating in clinical trials for a new drug for pancreatic cancer but have to have more extensive tests, CAt scan, ekg, chest xray, blood tests before the start the treatment. Hopefully all the tests will be completed this week and treatment started next week. I have gained 2 pounds and have the pain under control so I'm sleeping and eating better. Thanks again, Love, M
