STORY OF MY LIFE ILLA JANE ALLEN
TO RIAL COLEMAN ALLEN AND BERTHA NIELSEN, THE SECOND DAUGHTER AND
FIFTH CHILD WAS BORN ON 12 APRIL 1916. AND ON 7 MAY 1916 I WAS BLESSED BY MY
UNCLE HEBER A SMITH. WHEN I WAS A VERY SMALL GIRL, I WAS A MISCHIEVIOUS GIRL, I
USED TO GET INTO THINGS I SHOULD'NT. I GOT INTO SOME POISON PHEUMATISM (RUMATISM?) MEDICINE, AND NEARLY LOST MY LIFE. AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD, THEY PUT ME
IN HOT WATER AND FEED ME EGG WHITES AND OTHER THINGS, AND SENT FOR MY
FATHER WHO WAS AWAY WORKING. AND WHEN I WAS TWO YEARS OLD I NEARLY LOST MY LIFE AGAIN, IN THE SAME PLACE WHERE MY 1st CHILD LOST HER LIFE. MY OLDEST BROTHER CAME TO MY RESCUE. STARTING TO SCHOOL AT DRAPER WITH MRS BECK AS MY TEACHER AND MRS. J. M. PETERSON AS MY SECOND GRADE TEACHER AND I WAS RETAINED IN THE SECOND GRADE TWO YEARS, FOR NOT HAVING MY TONSILS OUT. BAPTIZED ON 27 APRIL 1924 WITH MARGARET TERRY, HOWARD ANDRUS, WAYNE NEWBOLD, DAN SMITH, BY ROBERT J.
WITHERS AND CONFIRMED ON 27 APRIL 1924 AT DRAPER, BY JOSEPH M. SMITH. MY
SCHOOLING WAS SPENT IN THE DRAPER PARK SCHOOL AND DRAPER JR. HIGH. IN THE SECOND
GRADE WE HAD APARTY, I THOUGHT WE COULD GO HOME AFTER THE PARTY, SO I WENT, AND THE NEXT DAY I WAS CALLED TO THE OFFICE TO SEE WHAT WAS THE MATTER. AND IN THE THIRD GRADE LE ILA KELSEN WAS MY FAVORITE TEACHER. AND IN THE FOURTH GRADE ONE OF THE SUPT OF JORDAN GAVE A LIST OF WORDS ON THE BLACK BOARD FOR EACH OF US TO SAY AND WE ALL LIVED UP AND WHEN IT CAME TO MY WORLD I COULD'NT SAY IT SO I
BEGAN TO CRY. IN THE FIFTH GRADE I WAS NEARLY HELD BACK BECAUSE I HAD NO BOOK AND THINGS TO TURN IN BUT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR I WAS OUT WITH MEASLES AND CHICKEN POX FOR SIX WEEKS.
DRAPER ADD TO SCHOOL AND IN THE SEVENTH, EIGHT AND NINTH, I WAS
RETAINED AGAIN. BEFORE I WAS ONLY 14 WHEN MY MOTHER DIED ON 8 NOV 1931. AFTER
MY MOTHER`S DEATH I HAD TO MISS SO MANY DAYS OF SCHOOL, FOR TAKING CARE
OF THE HOME. A YEAR OR SO AFTER I LEFT SCHOOL I WAS MARRIED AT THE AGE OF
15, AND AFTER MY 1st GIRL WAS BORN WE LIVED TOGETHER NEARLY A YEAR THEN WE
SEPERATED, MY BABY GIRL WAS DROWNED AND THEN THE LAWYERS GAVE US AN ANNULEMENT AND MY 1st MARRIAGE WAS ALL OVER WITH. STAYING AT HOME FOR A WHILE UNTIL MY BROTHER DECIDED TO GET MARRIED. AND I CAME TO S.L. TO WORK AND I CAME TO SEE MR. BRAMBLE TO SEE MY SISTER-IN-LAW AND MY SECOND MARRIAGE BEGAN. WE WERE MARRIED 28 FEB. 1936. AND MY SECOND GIRL WAS BORN 13 AUG. 1936. HE HAD A DAUGHTER AND THE FOUR OF US WERE HAPPY. MY FATHER WAS FAILING IN HEALTH AND ON 9 MAY 1940 HE DIED , AND ON "MOTHER'S DAY" AT 11:00 HE WAS BURIED. I HAVE 3 BROTHERS, ONE SISTER. DOING R.S. WORK. I WAS SEE
OF THE SPECIAL GROUP IN MIA. MARRYING FOR THE THIRD TIME. WORKING AS A NURSE IN
THE GENERAL HOSPITAL FOR 11 MONTHS AND ST. MARKS FOR 22 MONTHS. THEN MY FIRST
SON WAS BORN. THEN I STARTED TO WORK IN REST HOMES LEE JEANS, HAZEL DONS, JAE

1977 IN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH. BURIED 9 NOV. 1977 IN DRAPER, SALT LAKE CO., UTAH WHEN I GOT MARRIED, SHE GOT IN TO HER HEAD THERE WAS NO PURPOSETO LIVE.
SO SHE WOULD NOT EAT AND HER HEALTH WAS GOING DOWN HILL. IN THE YEAR OF 1977,
SHE HAD TWO STROKES . THE LAST STROKE KILLED HER.
MY MOTHER'S LIF STORY CAME TO AN END.
