" EBBING SAP "

Information related to me from the recollection of my cousin Hulda Culler.

"Evang.Robert George Timothy Brown Sr., and his brother Chester Brown and sister Zilla Brown who married Holmes.

Robert came to Newark, NJ and Holmes and his wife Zilla also came to Newark and met the church. She wrote and told their brother Chester, and his wife Bessie and they came to Newark.

Robert was not married at the time, however he met Minnie who was a member of the Independent Church of God and Saints of Christ of Newark, NJ, which had its first church on the corner of Broome and Baldwin Streets, Tabernacle #1.

Robert joined the church and married Minnie and she became Minnie Brown. They had five children, namely: Rebecca, Zephaniah, Jessie, Debora and Robert Jr. Minnie was born in Farmville, Virginia.

Robert spoke seven languages and he was ordained an Elder of the church and then an Evang.,he was a great teacher and speaker of the word of God and Minnie was mother sarah, Minnie McCrea Brown.

Robert was quite a business man, he had his own masonary contracting business and he hired the church brothers to work for him.

He became the pastor of the Independent Church of God and Saints of Christ in May of 1937 and served until ill health and he resigned as pastor July 1946, and shortly after that he fell asleep (circa) September 1946.

Chester Brown was also appointed an Elder and then an Evang, then he and his wife who became a Sister Elder moved to Philadelphia, PA. Later he was preaching in the pulpit and fell and soon thereafter he passed and then his wife Bessie passed. I hear that his members went to the Philadelphia church under Bishop Crowdy.

Henry Fowlds, Robert, Chester and Zilla were cousins, two sister's children. Henry Fowlds was my father. There were two girls and one son, one daughter's name was Rachel and the brother was named Richard, I forgot the other sister's name. Henry my father left home and went to war in Africa. He wrote to his cousin Zilla in the U.S.A. and she told him of the church and of a young lady she had for him. He came, met her and liked her, he joined the church and married her and had a family of three, thank God I was one of them. Richard visited but did'nt like it and went to Los Angles, CA. Thus I thank God for the Brown's and Fowld's" (This information was given to me by my cousin Hulda Culler).
