"Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love
unless he's owned a dog. He can show you more honest
affection with the flick of his tail than a man can
gather through a lifetime of handshakes."

Baron
Baron is about 4 years old, a neutered male German Shepherd Dog. He came from the Culpeper animal shelter with a severe crush injury to his tail, which had to be removed. So Baron is now a shepherd without a tail but he is still a very handsome dog. He's big, about 90 pounds, solid, active, playful. He gets along fine with large dogs, but is not good with small dogs or cats. Baron is housetrained and does well in a securely fenced yard. He will bond very quickly and tightly to his person and would prefer to never leave your side. Baron is a follower and he needs to go to a home with another dog for times when his person can not be around. You can contact his foster home at vadogrescue@aol.com if you have any questions.

Derby
Derby is a very cute 11 lbs red Dachshund. This little dog is about 1 - 2 years old. He is neutered and is looking for a forever home with lots of warm laps to share. This guy immediately took to the children in his foster home ( ages 6, 8 and 10) as well as a Rotti pup and Beagles who live there. The foster family is calling him Derby because his little tail wags so fast that he could be in a derby race. He is looking for a loving family to be part of.

Champ-Adopted
Hi! My name is CHAMP, a good looking Sheltie mix. My foster mommy picked that name for me because I am a CHAMPION of a dog! I have been through a lot in my short 2 or 3 years of life, but I have just found this wonderful group of people who have rescued me from a shelter. They have bathed me, cleaned me up and I am on my way to finding my FOREVER HOME! I am not very big. Once I have had a few good meals I should weigh around 25 lbs. I have not had a lot of people contact for a long time and I have missed it! My favorite thing to do right now is curl up in my Foster Mom's lap and let her pet me. I also love to give her kisses. While I am a laid back pup, I do love to play. I have a foster dog sister and she has a lot of toys I like to fetch and keep myself entertained with. When it is play time, I am a happy go lucky guy who bounces around the room! Therefore, I need a family who can give me a lot of attention and play time each day. I also have 3 foster cat siblings and I am getting along well with them too. I am told one of the best aspects of me is that I am potty trained. I don't see what the big deal is, but if it helps me find a home quicker, than that is great! I am just a lovable little guy who has a huge heart and wants to find someone to share this love with for the rest of my life. Please give me a chance and I promise to be the best friend you have ever had!

Rita
Hi world! My name is Rita, the wonder dog. I am a 15 lb ball of fire, and people say I look like a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix and oh so cute! I was rescued from a shelter this week and have found a wonderful group of people to take care of me and help me find my forever home. I am a great dog. I am crate trained, doing well on being potty trained, spayed and know how to sit when asked. When I lay down I cross my front feet, put my ears up and pose nicely for all to see. I have a doggie foster sister at my foster home and I LOVE to play with her. I would love to find a forever home with a playmate. There are also cats here and so far, I have no interest in them, although I am curious about what they are. They hiss at me, so I back down . I am not very demanding, but I do love to be petted. I am happy to play by myself and explore my surroundings or tussle with a playmate, either human or four-legged. I would make a great companion for an active family who doesn't want a big dog. Please come by and see me so I can win your heart!

Tino
Tino (aka Valentino) is a small Chihuahua with a wonderful dogality. Always ready to play, but also very affectionate. Very well socialized, he promotes positive interaction with dogs and cats. Tino is neutered and up to date with all vaccinations. In his new foster home for just a short time, he appears to be housetrained and has not been in a crate. Why worry, Tino has most likely already earned his PhD at a very young age (only 1 year old). Tino would prefer a home where he wouldn't spend hours alone; he would be very bored and lonely. He would welcome another playmate.

Adoption fee is $125 which includes all vaccines, heartworm test and spay/neuter.

Yoda
Yoda is a 1 yr. old, 8-10 lb. male Yorkie/Terrier mix with a friendly personality when he gets to know you. He is a funny little guy who loves to be in your lap and sleep with you at night. Just look at the many different ways he can show off his ears. He is current on shots, neutered, and housebroken if on regular schedule. Gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy having a playmate.Don't know about cats, but think he would be just fine. Prefer older children. Fenced yard required.

Adoption fee is $125 which includes all vaccines, heartworm test and spay/neuter.

Sarge
Sarge (aka Sergei) is a well mannered Schnauzer/Terrier mix. He is very content with most situations; that is, low maintenance. His salt and pepper coat is easy to take care of. He would gladly participate in your games, but only if he is welcome to do so. Otherwise, just go ahead and do whatever; I'll be here when you return. Sarge is neutered, current on shots, heartworm negative, and best of all very affectionate. He loves to run and fetch and ready to fetch your affection.
Adoption fee is $125 which includes all vaccines, heartworm test and spay/neuter.

Dudley-Pending
Dudley is a very sweet "salt and pepper" male poodle mix. He is very affectionate and gets along well with other dogs and cats. If he could jump high enough, he would be in your arms in a blink. He loves to cuddle on the sofa. Dudley is not yet quite housetrained; we are working on that.
Adoption fee is $125 which includes all vaccines, heartworm test and spay/neuter. Email us for an application.

Leo
Leo is a handsome, neutered, 35 pound, Golden Retriever mix with beautiful soft fur. Leo appears to be about 3 years old (we’re just guessing), is housebroken and current on shots. He is a happy go lucky kind of guy, pretty independent and very smart. Leo has two separate personalities. Indoors he is calm and quiet. He loves a good petting and taking naps on a soft pillow. Once outside his adventurous instinct takes over! Leo is very keen for walks and loves to root through the underbrush. He is energetic in the outdoors and loves to explore wherever his nose leads. Leo gets along well with dogs he is familiar with but has some greeting issues with larger canines. Leo would be happy in a home without cats. Leo's foster family is willing to bring him out to meet prospective adopters and their current pets. He would also do fine as the only dog in a household. Fenced in yard required.

Koko
GOT LOVE? Koko is a small male Chihuahua//Miniature Pinscher mix, weighing approx. 15 lbs. Due to a congenital eye conditon, like seeing through a black web, he is agile and responds very well to light. Koko has a sweet and gentle personality and would thrive best in a home without the competition of other dogs. He feels secure when close to his loved ones, inside or outside. He has excellent house manners. Current on shots and heartworm negative. If you're ready for a lap dog, consider Koko, he won't disappoint you.

Molly
Molly is a five year old Rottweiler/Shepherd mix, spayed, and current on shots. Molly is very friendly to both people and other dogs, and I expect she could even be friends with a cat. Her little tail wags all the time and she loves to run and play. Like all rottweilers, she loves petting and other forms of attention from humans. Molly is crate trained and doesn't bark, but she can jump a low fence. She walks nicely on a leash and is pretty good about coming when called. She is a sensitive dog, so she needs reward-based training and a gentle voice. You can contact her foster home at vadogrescue@aol.com if you have any questions or would like to meet Molly.

Sydney-Adopted
Hi, my name is Sydney and I'm a beautiful, spayed, female Sheltie/Spaniel mix weighing approx. 20 lbs. I love my new foster home. Since I am only 6 months old, I am learning from the other dogs here. I have already learned to walk on a leash, go up and down steps, and sit for treats. And I bark with the others when they sense impending danger from the UPS truck. My foster mom thinks I am extremely smart as three days ago I was pretty much overwhelmed by everything. She also says I am cute as a button and very loving. I'm just discovering the cats here and so far I like all five of them.

Libby-Pending
If you are looking for a pretty face with a big heart, that’s me. I love to be close to my master and can jump real high when I get excited to see you. Now and then, well more now, I love to snuggle close to the one that I love. Sometimes I jump onto the bed just to be close to you, and I will let you know if you are taking up too much of the bed. If you don’t pay enough attention to me, I will come nudge your arm or just stare at you to remind you that I am here in case you want to do something with me. I will also lick your face from time to time so that you can see my spotted tongue close up. I travel well in the car and love going for rides. I am full of energy and would love someone that is active as I get bored if I sit around for too long. I am housetrained and well behaved indoors. One active person is enough for me, but a family would be fine too, and other dogs are ok as well. You can contact my adoption agency (www.animalconnections.org) at vadogrescue@aol.com if you have any questions.
